• Microseismic catalogue recorded by the EOPGS surface network and the downhole network at Soultz-sous-Forêts during the 1993 episode. The catalogue is part John Helm's thesis : The natural seismic hazard and induced seismicity of the European HDR (Hot Dry Rock) geothermal energy project at Soultz-sous-Forêts (Bas-Rhin, France), Appendix V. The events of the catalogue cover the 1st stimulation test, the 2nd packer test and the 2nd stimulation test of the 1993 episode. Number of events: 96. Time period: 07/09/1993 18:08:32 - 16/10/1993 19:56:43. The data parameters used are the following: Column 1: Seismic ID Column 2: EOPGS event number Column 3: CSMA file Column 4: CSMA event number Column 5: Date Column 6: Corrected origin time (UTC) Column 7: Easting from GPK1 wellhead * Column 8: Northing from GPK1 wellhead * Column 9: Depth from GPK1 wellhead * Column 10: Latitude WGS84 ** Column 11: Longitude WGS84 ** Column 12: Elevation WGS84 ** Column 13: Event magnitude Column 14: Seismic moment Column 15: Source radius * The local coordinate system is based on the UTM32 system. ** Latitude, longitude and elevation have been derived from easting, northing and depth from GPK1 wellhead. The EOPGS microseismic surface network is available (https://cdgp.u-strasbg.fr/geonetwork/srv/fre/catalog.search#/metadata/SSFS1993-surface_network). The microseismic downhole network is available (https://cdgp.u-strasbg.fr/geonetwork/srv/fre/catalog.search#/metadata/SSFS1993-network). The velocity model used is available (https://cdgp.u-strasbg.fr/geonetwork/srv/fre/catalog.search#/metadata/SSFS1993-velocity_model). Unfortunately the waveforms recorded by the surface network have been lost. Last update of data: 23/07/2019

 • The surface network during the 1993 episode consisted of 14 stations. Three of them were permanent seismic stations, since removed. Eight of them were temporary 1-component seismometers. The station 1 was moved two times and the station 3 one time during the episode to improve azimuthal coverage. At least, three temporary 3-component seismometers were installed at four different sites. The surface network was installed by EOPGS (Ecole et Observatoire de Physique du Globe de Strasbourg).166 events were detected with the network. The catalogue of seismicity associated is available (https://cdgp.u-strasbg.fr/geonetwork/srv/fre/catalog.search#/metadata/SSFS1993-catalogue_Helm). Unfortunately the waveforms have not been recovered. Last update of data: 07/03/2018

 • The microseismic network in operation during the 1995 stimulation, injection and circulation experiments represents a slightly modified version of the 1993 system. It consisted of accelerometers (4-component sensors) built by the CSMA in boreholes 4550, 4601, 4616 and of a single hydrophone in EPS1. These sensors were used throughout the 1995 experimental programme. A further hydrophone was deployed in GPK1 at a depth of 3480m to monitor the brine injection (Wilson, S.A., Jupe, A.J., Jones R.H. and Dyer, B., 1996.Microseismic results from the 1995 Soultz experimental programme, CSMA Report for Socomine, January 1996.). The X,Y,Z coordinates in the file refer to the local coordinate system with the GPK1 wellhead as origin: X: Easting in meters from GPK1 wellhead (toward magnetic East) Y: Northing in meters from GPK1 wellhead (toward magnetic North) Z: Depth in meters from GPK1 wellhead The local coordinate system is based on the UTM32 system. The coordinates of the stations in the local coordinate system have been obtained from the thesis of S. Bourouis (Sismicité induite et comportement mécanique d'un massif granitique fracturé par injection d'eau). The exact coordinates of the GPK1 hydrophone have not been retrieved and so are not in the file. The latitude, longitude and elevation in the WGS84 coordinate system have been derived from the local coordinate system. Last update of data: 24/07/2019

 • Velocity model described in J. Helm thesis (p.127) according to Beauce et al. (1991). The velocity model was used to calculate location of microseismic events from the surface network during 1993 stimulation. The catalogue of events located during 1993 stimulation using the surface network is available (https://cdgp.u-strasbg.fr/geonetwork/srv/fre/catalog.search#/metadata/SSFS1993-catalogue_Helm). • Velocity model and station corrections described in the PhD thesis of N. Cuenot, used to calculate location of microseismic events of his first catalogue of the 2000 stimulation episode at Soultz-sous-Forêts. N. Cuenot performed preliminary locations during his PhD using a modified version of the HYPOINVERSE program (Klein, 1978). An initial velocity model established by Darnet (2000) was first used but did not give satisfactory results. The velocity model was thus refined. P waves velocities were iteratively calculated by minimizing residual errors at the stations. The ratio Vp/Vs was similarly adjusted in the sedimentary layers. At least, station corrections were used to get hypocenters as precise as possible. The first catalogue of events of the 2000 episode calculated by N. Cuenot using the HYPOINVERSE program is available (https://cdgp.u-strasbg.fr/geonetwork/srv/fre/catalog.search#/metadata/SSFS2000-catalogue). Last update of data: 26/11/2018
