- A facility devoted to the measurement and recording of earthquake motions. A modern seismic station has a weak motion sensor (e.g., a broadband seismometer), often a strong motion sensor (e.g., an accelerometer), and a data logger with GPS timing, onboard storage, and real-time communication devices
